What is a “proof”?

A proof is a visual sample of your job—sent to you online or printed on paper—that allows you to see that everything including type and images are set and positioned according to your specifications. You may choose to view your proof on-premises, or have it sent to your place of business for review. On jobs that use two or more colors, we can offer you a color proof that will enable you to see how the colors will appear.

Why do I need to look at a proof?

The proofing process allows errors to be spotted well before the job is completed and delivered. There are a number of reasons you will want to look at a proof of your job. You might notice some last-minute changes that need to be made. There might have been slip-ups at one stage or another, which need to be remedied before the finished product goes out. Most important, the proofing process gives you the opportunity to look over the work and be certain that it is ready to go.

How do I prepare my materials for a print job?

There are a number of ways to prepare your materials to us. For us to supply you with the best possible results, we strongly recommend that you follow our Pre-Press Guidelines. How do I ftp my digital files to you?

Just use these helpful instructions:

IF YOU ARE USING A MACINTOSH
Collect your entire document and create an .SIT file. Do not stuff an .hqx document.
(Myfile.hqx.sit = WRONG myfile.sit = RIGHT)
When you are uploading, ensure that you are sending your files in a binary format.
Always use lower case letters, as the FTP site is case sensitive.

IF YOU ARE USING A PC
Collect your entire document and create a .ZIP file.
When you are uploading, ensure that you are sending in a binary format.
Always use lower case letters, as the site is case sensitive.

When you are ready to upload or download, please inform your salesperson that you are doing so. Once a file has been uploaded or downloaded, it will be removed from the FTP site.
